The Rally Festival Continues in Umeå!

Preparation for Rally Sweden 2024 is ramping up with next year’s addition planned from 15–18 February.* For the third consecutive year Umeå will be the central location for the rally, which starts and finish in the city. More than 200,000 people are expected over the event weekend to take in the rally, visit the festival area and enjoy the entertainment. Rally Sweden is one of Sweden’s biggest recurring sporting events.

Solberg back in the spotlight – winner of Rally Sweden WRC2 2023

Oliver Solberg had to step down in the rally hierarchy for this season.
When the WRC 2 class raced for the season's first WC points during Rally Sweden in Umeå, the 21-year-old showed class and drove home the victory accurately.
The margin of victory for the runner-up, the Norwegian Ole-Christian Veiby, was a whopping 42.3 seconds, and Sami Pajari finished third.

Ott Tänak's consistency over all four days of competition brought him to victory in Rally Sweden in Umeå 2023. When the 18 special stages were added up, the margin of victory was 18.7 seconds.
The M-sports team's Estonian rally star was able to comfortably drive home the season's first WRC victory with Hyundai duo Craig Breen and Thierry Neuville as podium colleagues.

Ott Tänak has the winning grip in Rally Sweden

Ford Puma's Estonian star, Ott Tänak, started Saturday's Rally Sweden in second place, 4.6 seconds behind the leading Irishman and Hyundai driver, Craig Breen. When Umeåsprinten's arena show framed the winter-beautiful Saturday and seven special stages for customers, Tänak went into the closing Sunday with an 8.6-second lead over Breen.

When Rally Sweden got underway on Friday, Craig Breen was the man of the day.
The Irishman drove home three of the five stages and is in the lead in the summary, 2.6 seconds ahead of Ott Tänak.
- It´s one of my most robust days. Last year I was either upside down or stuck in the snowbanks somewhere. So today, it is like sweet music to my ears to be in the lead, stated the Hyundai driver.

The Swedish Prince with co-driver Petter Solberg

HRH Prince Carl Philip did get the opportunity to drive a rally car with former rally world champion Petter Solberg, the father of WRC2-star Oliver Solberg, as co-driver.

Kalle Rovanperä inledde fjolårets segersvit i WRC-säsongen med att ta ledningen första dagen.

Årets tävling öppnade den regerande världsmästaren lika lovande.
- Jag är nöjd; det var halt på vissa partier med lössnö, men godkänt, förklarade Rovanperä.
Efter öppningen och fyrverkerierna styrde han sprinten runt The Red Barn Arena genom att köra 1,6 sekunder före Ott Tänak och ytterligare 1,5 sekunder till äran av trean Elfyn Evans.

Rally Sweden’s Track manager Roland “Mikro” Åström passed away.

- We have received the news that Rally Sweden's route manager Roland "Mikro" Åström, has passed away. "Mikro" was an extremely valued and well-liked colleague who, after almost 50 years in motorsport, knew every forest road around Västerbotten. All our thoughts are with his relatives, says Anna Nordkvist, CEO of Rally Sweden AB.

Umeå prepared for new success

The last year's competitions om Rally Sweden gave A media exposure that reached at least 76 countries worldwide and a combined reach of 55 million users in various digital channels. Rally Sweden in Umeå 2022 was also a success for the Umeå brand – despite uncertainty until the end of the pandemic would prevent it from being carried out.
