Rally Sweden’s Track manager Roland “Mikro” Åström passed away.

- We have received the news that Rally Sweden's route manager Roland "Mikro" Åström, has passed away. "Mikro" was an extremely valued and well-liked colleague who, after almost 50 years in motorsport, knew every forest road around Västerbotten. All our thoughts are with his relatives, says Anna Nordkvist, CEO of Rally Sweden AB.

– We share our condolences with the organizers of Rally Sweden in this difficult time. They have our full support and know we will do everything we can to guarantee the smooth running of this week’s rally, says Simon Larkin, Senior Director of Events at WRC Promoter.

The family wishes for understanding to mourn Roland in peace and asks the media not to contact them.

Rally Sweden will take place in Umeå from 9-12 February.
