Calle Carlberg showed class throughout the weekend in the JWRC class during Rally Sweden. Together with co-driver Jørgen Eriksen, he drove home the victory in the junior World Championship class.
The 25-year-old showed that the junior European Championship title from the Czech Republic this summer was no coincidence. Carlberg also got to show his class in this weekend’s Rally Sweden and was able to add another important title to his rally account for his continued efforts.
– It’s absolutely crazy to win Rally Sweden. I didn’t think this when I was six years old and watched Rally Sweden. Now I’m standing here and have won the JVM class and it looks good for the future. And a big thank you to everyone who has been there and supported and helped. Best day of my life, said Calle Carlberg immediately after the finish line of this year’s Rally Sweden.
Calle rode steadily throughout the weekend and won no less than 12 (!) of the 18 stages and when the final times were added up, it was ultimately a pleasant ride for him.
The margin of victory over second place Levi Lassila was clocked at one minute and 52 seconds, finishing second while Spaniard Raúl Hernández took third place a further two minutes behind.
In the WRC2 class, Isak Reiersen and co-driver Stefan Gustavsson were the best Swedish crew in fifth place.
