SVT broadcasts from the Rally Sweden

Just in time for this year's premiere of the Rally World Cup, it is clear that SVT will broadcast summaries from all World Cup competitions and be on site at Rally Sweden. In addition to the classic summaries from all the races on the calendar, there will also be an extra effort during the weekend when Rally Sweden is decided with live broadcasts from several special stages.

SVT has entered into an agreement with rights holder C More, which broadcasts everything from the World Rally Championship live. The agreement means that SVT can broadcast an hour-long summary after each completed sub-competition.

– We are very happy that we can continue to broadcast from the World Rally Championship. We already know that the summary on Sunday is a very popular program with our motoring-interested audience, says SVT Sports acting director of sports Max Bursell.

For Rally Sweden, this is a welcome decision. This means that the country’s two largest TV broadcasting companies will cover the Rally WC and the Swedish WC competition Rally Sweden, which will be decided with Umeå as the central location February 9-12.

– Of course, a very gratifying decision. SVT has covered Rally Sweden for many, many years and we know that there is an interest in following the rally via SVT from the Swedish sports audience. SVT’s interest in working for and securing parts of the rights and that TV4 broadcasts the rally on its channels shows that the World Rally Championship and Rally Sweden as individual sporting events have a strong commercial value and that is also what we see in general around the rally. Something we are very happy about, says Anna Nordkvist, Secretary General of Swedish Motorsports and CEO of Rally Sweden.
