This year’s Rally Sweden 2026 kicks off on Thursday.
However, the action begins already on Wednesday evening when the WRC drivers roll their cars into Rådhustorget.
A golden opportunity for fans to get up close and personal with the world’s best rally drivers. Between 5:30 pm and 7:00 pm, Rally Sweden opens the stage for the manufacturer teams and their drivers, with the historic City Hall, built four years after the great city fire of 1888, providing a stunning backdrop.
During the evening, visitors will have the chance to see the cars up close, listen to the top drivers’ thoughts ahead of this year’s event, and not least once again welcome Sweden’s rally star and crowd favourite Oliver Solberg warmly back to Umeå for the fifth time – on this occasion as a full-time driver for the Toyota team in the top class.
Last year’s winner, Elfyn Evans, and the 2024 winner, Esa-Pekka Lappi, will also be present, along with the other teams, as they drive their cars through the city centre via the pedestrian street to showcase their “rockets”.
Swedish talents in the WRC2 and JWRC categories – Isak Reiersen, Adam Grahn, Mille Johansson, and Calle Carlberg – will also be in attendance at Rådhustorget.
In addition, residents of Umeå will be treated to several rarities from the Historic category. Last year’s winner, Tobias Johansson, will arrive in his Audi Quattro, local driver and Vännäs native Nils Östgård will present his Toyota Celica – “borrowed” from Toyota boss and former WRC driver Jari-Matti Latvala – and Umeå AK’s Anton Mattsson will showcase his classic Volvo 240.
