Kolksele – A Hilly and Rolling Stage

Kolksele is one of the more renowned stages for Swedish rally enthusiasts, and in 2025 it gets a boost with a new starting point and a refreshed layout. Course director Joakim Åström is excited to offer the spectators a blend of fast driving and technical challenges.

“We have truly created a stage that will be both fast and technical. It begins on a winding forest road before connecting to the old SM stage, and thereafter we offer a mix of rapid driving and technical sections that will challenge the drivers.”

The work of selecting the right stages for Rally Sweden is about more than just finding the best roads in the region. Joakim explains that it requires careful planning of both timetables and logistics.

“We can’t simply pick the ten best stages; it’s about creating a good loop and coordinating everything with the fuel schedules and TV broadcasts. There’s a lot of work behind the scenes to make everything run smoothly,” he says.

When it comes to Kolksele, it’s the diversity in the road choices and the technical challenges that make the stage outstanding. Located near Pengfors Motorstadion, the spectators will truly enjoy a magical experience here. There are many great viewing spots and spectator areas where fans can follow the drivers throughout the stage. Joakim is particularly enthusiastic about these locations.

“I believe it will be really great for the spectators. Both Mjösjö and Pengfors offer fantastic spots to watch the rally, and we have really thought about creating excellent areas for those who want to get up close to the action,” he says.

With its hilly and undulating terrain, Kolksele is a stage that not only suits the fast drivers but also challenges their technique and precision.
