Idag kom beskedet att Rally Sweden är en av av 13 deltävlingar i rally-VM 2014. Beslutet togs vid FIA:s World Motor Sport Council i Dubrovnik, Kroatien.
– Känns så klart skönt att vi nu har ett officiellt besked på datum och kalender för 2014, sa Svenska Rallyt AB:s VD Glenn Olsson på fredagskvällen när beskedet kom från FIA.
Rally Sweden 2014 kommer att köras under vecka 6 (3-9 februari), men de exakta dagarna rallyt kommer att köras är fortfarande lite oklart.
– Vi har haft en diskussion med WRC Promotor om att få köra tävlingen onsdag-lördag istället för traditionella torsdag-söndag. Mycket på grund av att söndagen i vecka 6 krockar tidsmässigt med framförallt herrarnas störtlopp på OS i Sochi. De förstår vår problematik och de vill även för egen del undvika en sådan krock, förklarar Glenn Olsson.
I dagarna går också det första förslaget på tidsplan och bana på remiss till FIA och fabriksteamen.
– Jag har inte varit orolig att vi inte skulle finnas med i kalendern, men det är såklart alltid skönt att det nu är officiellt klart från FIA att vi kan fortsätta att leverera en högklassig tävling även vintern 2014, sa sportchef och tävlingsledare Christina Lundqvist Viklund om dagens beslut och fortsätter.
– Vår ambition är att få köra onsdag-lördag, men vi kan inte bekräfta att så blir fallet innan FIA och teamen sagt sitt om tidsplan och banförslag.

Today it was announced that Rally Sweden is one of the 13 events in the World Rally Championship for 2014. The decision was taken by the FIA World Motor Sport Council in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
– Feels of course good that we now have an official decision of the date and calendar for 2014, said the Swedish Rally AB’s CEO Glenn Olsson on Friday evening when the news came from the FIA.
Rally Sweden 2014 will run in week 6 (3-9 February), but the exact days the rally will run is still a bit unclear.
– We have had a discussion with the WRC promoter about getting to run the event Wednesday to Saturday instead of traditional Thursday-Sunday. Largely for that Sunday in week 6 clash in time with particular men’s downhill at the Olympic games in Sochi. They understand our problems and they also want for themselves to avoid such collisions, explains Glenn Olsson.
In the next couple of days is also the first proposal to itinerary and route is sent to the FIA and manufacturer teams.
– I have not been worried that we would not be in the calendar, but it is of course always good that it is now officially clear from the FIA that we can continue to deliver a high-quality event in 2014 as well, said sporting director and clerk of the course Christina Lundqvist Viklund about today’s decision and she continues.
– Our ambition is to run Wednesday-Saturday, but we can not confirm that this is the case before the FIA and the teams had their say on the itinerary and route proposal.
