Latvala in Volkswagen

Jari-Matti Latvala, age 27, has signed on with Volkswagen Motorsport. The finn will be driving a VW Polo R WRC in WRC 2013. His team colleague will be frenshman Sébastien Ogier.

– With Ogier and Latvala we have an excellent team of drivers for our debut season of the WRC, says the head of Volkswagen Motorsport, Jost Capito.

Latvalas transit was expected after Fords decision to leave the WRC. Latvala has been driving for FOrd for five years. Amongst his victories are two in Rally Sweden, 2008 and 2012.

– It wasn’t easy to leave Ford, but I’m very happy for the opportunity to drive the Polo R WRC in the furure, says Latvala while hoping that the new team will take him closer to his dream; the championship title.
