Latvala kept his lead over Hirvonen

Jari-Matti Latvala kept clear of chasing Mikko Hirvonen in the Sunday’s six special stages. The only time it was a little nervous was when Latvala had a puncture on SS22 and lost almost all the lead over Hirvonen, only 8.4 seconds remained before the two final stages.

Latvala was able to press a little extra on the Special stage 23 and extend the distance again and was then never threatened in the final Powerstage on Värmullsåsen. Now we are waiting service, transportation distance to Karlstad and price giving ceremony on the main square (and the final scrutineering) before Latvala entirely can call himselve Rally Sweden champion for the second time.
